10 MHz IF for K3 Transverter Operation?

Michael Mussler
I've seen a couple of old posts concerning the addition of a 10 MHz IF for use with the K3 (and KXV3 option). Is this upgrade being worked at Elecraft? I operate my K3 using an external 10 MHz frequency reference. The 10 MHz IF capability would allow use of the same external 10 MHz reference as the LO for a transverter covering the 0 to 500 kHz spectrum.

Mike,

Not a 10 MHz IF, but provision for a 10 MHz reference INPUT to the K3.
That is the  K3EXREF  External Reference Input for the K3. which allows
the K3 to lock to an external 10 MHz reference standard.
It is available as a K3 option.

The KXV3 option *does* provide an IF output (at the 8 MHz IF frequency)
for use with the P3 or other panadapter displays.  That is also an
option that can be purchased.

Neither is an upgrade - options are add-ons, upgrades are changes to the
existing hardware.

10 MHz Transverter Band IF for K3

Michael Mussler
A clarification is in order concerning my earlier post. If not already available, I am requesting a K3 firmware revision that adds the selection of a 10 MHz IF for transverter operation (via the "XVn IF" CONFIG menu selection). In my application this added selection would allow use of the same external 10 MHz reference signal I use with my K3 for a stable and clean 630m transverter LO.

We've heard this from several customers, now, so it has moved up the list.
