160M ... VFO display goes up, but VFO doesn't

Steve Jackson-5
I tuned K2 # 0771 into the 160M contest this evening,
just to listen.

I dialed up the band, into the 'phone area above 1870.

The VFO display indicates the operating frequency, as
normal, but dialing frequencies aboove about 1930
makes no change in where the radio is tuning.

Dial back down, and, the radio starts 'tuning' again
when you get to roughly around that indication on the
display.

I have to go get my frequency counter to see exactly
where thr rig stops tuning, even though the display
says it's requesting the VCO to 'go' there.  Never
noticed this before, nor have I had any similar
experience on any other band.

Any ideas why this might happen?

Steve,

That problem can be addressed by retuning L30 for correct VCO voltages
measured at the left end of R30.  If you have installed the VFOSHIELDKT, you
must adjust the turns spacing of T5 instead of changing L30.
