I've noticed this a number of times with this firmware.

You turn on NB.  

You turn it off, the icon goes away but the signals still sound like NB is on.
One can hear chops in the wanted signal.
Turning off radio and turning it on gets back to normal.

Anybody else experiencing this?

I've not experienced this Brian.  When I turn the NB on/off and the hardware
blanker is enabled, I can hear a mechanical click.  I am assuming it is the
hardware blanker causing the "chops."  Perhaps the relay is not disengaging
it when you turn off NB using the front panel button. Does it disengage when
you turn it off using the Level adjustment?
