250 Hz Cw Filter Setup

pastormg
Hi fellow K3 owners.  I finally installed my 250Hz CW filter last evening and set the filter for 40 on the top line with a gain of 8.  Now you will probably wonder why I used 8 versus 4, but I was reading some of the previous submissions on the reflector and some have said that it worked just fine.  I am new to a cw filter and I was wondering if it would be ok to set the filter to perhaps 50 versus 40 to have a less dramatic effect?  If it sounds like I may not know what I am talking about you could say that.  Any help and advice would be much appreciated.  Mark KB3Z

0.40 on the top line of the Utility (Bandwidth) is good.  It
means that the 250 Hz filter will switch in whenever you reduce
the DSP bandwidth to 400Hz or less.  That is the setting that I
use and like.

Regarding gain, you should use the minimum necessary.  I use a
gain of 4 for that filter on both of my K3's.
