2nd receiver only delivers hiss

Don Greenbaum
Well I decided to chase the K5D tonight (always better to start late).

Lo and behold, my sub receiver does not copy anything.  I've checked the menu and the KXV3 is set to NOR, speakers set to 1 or 2 makes no difference on internal speaker, RF set to max, SUB is turned on.

It transmits fine on B and in fact I've now worked K5D on 40 80 and 160.  But it would be nice to hear the 2nd RX to find the last stn working them.

What am I doing wrong?  AFX on or off makes no difference either by the way.

Don

Re: 2nd receiver only delivers hiss

Dick Dievendorff
I had my 2nd receiver antenna routed to AUX.  When I changed it to MAIN the
pileup got a lot louder.

Oh thank you thank you thank you.

That was all too easy!!!!!!

Yes, the BSET was on AUX.

And I noticed it needs to be set for each band....wow, every day is a new learning experience.

What a radio, what a resource this reflector is.

Maybe I need to read the manual a 3rd time.

Assuming you do not have a separate Rx antenna, you need to select the main
antenna for the sub receiver.  With the sub rcvr on, press and hold RX ANT
until MAIN appears.

Sometimes I think I need to read the entire manual before every use.  As another writer posted, the RX ANT button works just as well.  I almost missed K5D on 12 meters because I had the transmitter in LSB and could not figure out what was wrong.  Then it took a bit to  remember  what to do about it.  The K3 is smarter than my previous TS-850, but it did not carry over to me!

Don,

Don't feel bad, I have read the manual three times and finally downloaded a
copy to my PC, then I can search faster.  Now if I just remember to read it
first before asking my question.... Hmmmm.
