Thanks for all the responses to my antenna query and bat incident...
I've managed to locate bat entrance, but have yet to close up same.
In the meantime, I've installed pulleys and ropes to raise and lower the
44 ft. doublet (22 ft per side) to minimise my "squat walks" through the
attic as I experiment with lead lengths.
They are currently dangling as I don't want to provide even more
convenient hanging positions for the bats. A bat biologist informed me
that they will all leave for their hibernation location in 4-5 weeks.
That way I know they'll all be out when I install the "hardware cloth".
(Last thing I want to do is lock one of them inside!) Raising the
antenna will wait for September...
A couple of people have suggested 44 ft leads will work just fine...
Other documentation suggests more, but this antenna is close to the
operating position, so I'm going to start with 22 ft of 450 ohm ladder
line.
