50MHz TX Problem

Phil Salas
Has anyone had this problem who doesn't have a KAT3 installed?  I don't mean
a KAT3 bypassed, but no KAT3 at all.  The reason I'm asking is that there
have been a few folks (myself included) who would suddenly experience a
sudden high SWR, and after that would wind up with a residual SWR on some
bands even with the KAT3 bypassed.  This sudden high SWR occurance happened
to me on 20 and 30 meter CW.  I could go back and retune the KAT3, but the
antenna SWR had not changed (according to my in-line PowerMaster), and then
I had residual SWR on 17-10 meters that was high enough that I couldn't
properly set up my cal'd 5W/50W power on those bands.  The only soution was
to replace the KAT3.  And since having my new KAT3, I experienced this once
(again operating CW on 20 meters), but the residual SWR cleared and I
haven't had the problem recently.  I wonder if there is something lurking in
the KAT3?

So I thought it would be interesting to find out if only the folks having
the 6-meter problem have a KAT3.

RE: 50MHz TX Problem

I have the 50 MHz problem and have a KAT3. I haven't done enough testing but
I suspect that the problem with the relay opening may be in the KAT3.
