Bruce,
The 6 kHz filter is at the IF frequency. passband
AM is a double sideband transmission which means that the audio is only
1/2 of the IF passband width - 3kHz.
The passband displayed by the K3 is the audio passband. A 5 kHz width
would equate to a 10 kHz IF passband.
