630i Ticking coming from head when cold at idle

Has anyone experienced this before with an e60 530i or e63 530i.

The car is a 07 630i, 70k miles on the clock, the servicing has been as per BMW's service intervals.

The issue is a ticking sound on idle when cold, I was reading that there is a potential that the head may need to be changed to sort the issue due to problems with sticking hydraulic lifters.
