8 Pole vs 5 Pole Filters

k0wa@swbell.net

For those of you who have K3s right now.....  What is the "real" difference between the 5 pole and the 8 pole filters?

Lee - K0WA

In our day and age it seems that Common Sense is in short supply.  If you don't have any Common Sense - get some Common Sense and use it.  If you can't find any Common Sense, ask for help from somebody who has some Common Sense.  Is Common Sense divine?

RE: 8 Pole vs 5 Pole Filters

Dick Dievendorff
Most of us who have K3s made a decision one way or the other, and generally
don't have both the 2.7 and 2.8 KHz filters to compare.  I chose 8-pole
filters.

Re: 8 Pole vs 5 Pole Filters

Ken Kopp
My only rationale in choosing the 8-pole over the
5-pole filters is "it costs more, therefore it's (likely)
to be "better".  A very scientifically based decision.

The cost difference isn't worth the wondering; "Would
I have been just as satisfied with the lesser-cost 5-pole
versions?" (:-))

I have 6 kHz, 2.8 kHz, 1.8 kHz, 1.0 kHz and 400 Hz
8-pole filters and I'm happy.

Re: 8 Pole vs 5 Pole Filters

M0XDF
Hi Ken, yes, I have same, except for the 1kHz, which I don't have. I'll see
what variable filters are like and since I'm still working on my Morse,
don't yet feel the need for the 1kHz.

I choose those on crafter suggestions and your rational too.

Life is an eternal challenge, a variant on Maeterlinck's theme that the
Bluebird of happiness is by the side of each and everyone of us, always
within reach, yet, if pursued to catch and possess is beyond our grasp. -
