Hi there...
I have just purchased a KPA500 kit, and while I'm waiting for it to be delivered--a pal is bringing it across the border for me to avoid outlandish shipping costs--I thought I'd check out the Elecraft reflector. I note that there is a lot of traffic concerning the Elecraft transceivers, however, I don't have one of them just yet; perhaps my next rig? Anyway, I'm wondering if there is a reflector specifically for the KPA500? Also, I would like to know if there is anyone using a KPA500 with a SteppIR yagi. I have a DB-18 at about 40 ft. Looking forward to some interesting reading... 73, Phil Irons/VE1BVD Sydney, Nova Scotia ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hi Phil: You will really enjoy your new amplifier. It integrates very well
with the rest of the K-line. This one reflector covers all the Elecraft equipment and to make things easy for folks to presort messages, you are requested to put the equipment type (KPA500 for eg) in the subject line. I've been using my KPA500 (and the rest of the K-line) with a 3el SteppIR since the KPA arrived in Aug/11. The station (K3 & P3) also includes a microKeyer II with a special cable from microHam that goes from the mK (ilink connector) to the SteppIR (data out connector). It inhibits Tx in the K3 while the SteppIR is tuning. I think N8LP also has a unit that will perform the same inhibit while tuning function - check his website. www.telepostinc.com 73, Doug VE3MV ----- Original Message ----- From: "Phil Irons" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Sunday, March 17, 2013 2:53 PM Subject: [Elecraft] A newbie writes > Hi there... > > I have just purchased a KPA500 kit, and while I'm waiting for it to be > delivered--a pal is bringing it across the border for me to avoid > outlandish shipping costs--I thought I'd check out the Elecraft reflector. > I note that there is a lot of traffic concerning the Elecraft > transceivers, however, I don't have one of them just yet; perhaps my next > rig? I think you'll enjoy it. I sure like mine. > I note that there is a lot of traffic concerning the Elecraft > transceivers, ~ > Anyway, I'm wondering if there is a reflector specifically for the > KPA500? I wish. I too, am only here for the KPA and there has been TONS of traffic on everything else and little on the KPA. I guess that's a good thing, but if you're like me, you'll be tossing out more than 90% of what comes in from this list because of the other traffic. I wish there was a filter on the list that you could set for the topics you are interested in. It would really be nicer. Many times, I get up in the morning and find 65 or more incoming from all of my groups and this list. After killing the non-KPA traffic, I'm down to 5-15 from all groups combined and nothing related to our amp. Get used to it! :o) All that said, I do read much of it anyway, and I am surprised just how much trouble there is here that is very similar to what other groups report with their equipment. Also, be aware that this list, unlike most groups, will automatically reply to only the original sender. It will not go to the group. You'll have to manually change the To: field back to the list address.
