I built and used a KX1 a couple of years ago.
I used a Radio Shack 273-1680 power supply. It's a variable supply with
selectable voltages: 3, 4.5, 6, 9, 12 V. at 1 ampere.
Wish I hadn't traded the KX1-- I had a lot of fun
with it.
