AFSK -> PSK problem

Joe K2UF
During the WPX RTTY contest this weekend I have noticed that my K3 will jump
from AFSK A to PSK D.  It happens whenever I change bands.  I know it
happens at other times but did not note the circumstances during the
contest.  Anyone else notice this?  Any ideas?

Other than this my K3-P3/N1MM/MMTTY configuration works great.  With the P3
I did not even have to have the phones on just watched and tuned to the
scope display.  I only got a couple of hundred Q's. It was not a serious
effort and I just picked low hanging fruit ;o}

  Joe,

The mode/submode are per band settings.  If you did not have your Data
Mode set to AFSK-A fo all bands that you would be operating using AFSK,
then the results are as to be expected.

In other words, preset the mode and submode prior to a contest.

The data sub-mode is stored per band.  In addition if you use M0-M9
as quick band change memories, the data sub-mode is stored/recalled
from those memories.  You probably need to update the memories for
each band.

I think you'll find that "Digital mode info" is stored with the 'Band'.
Also, as you get setup for a contest, go thru the bands you'll be using and
select the mode, and press "A>B" twice and it will set the freq and mode
info on "B" same as "A". Much easier when later you need to go 'split', this
step will be done and you won't get err msg when trying to go split.  This
is for K3 without "Sub-receiver".  With KRX3, "I know nothing"!
