AGC? and loss of tone

Robert Allbright
Hi all

K2 5219 just completed, everything working, just 1 missing trimmer
quickly sent within a week (thankyou Elecraft)

If I press PRE/ATT and AGC together to switch off AGC this works but
I then don't get any signals (or just very low level) playing with
the RF and AF controls?? any ideas please. U2 pin 5 set to 3.8 volts
with R1 as in AGC setup.

Now setting up and playing with dsp, went back to check tx and have
found that the sidetone has disappeared, strange! when it was ok?

From a brief look at the sidetone checking procedure on P13, I don't
get any ac volts on pin 4 of U8, expected  2.5Vrms.

Again any ideas at this early stage very welcome, bit more difficult
now to signal trace with dsp board now plugged into control board.

Just have a feeling that there is a simple answer? ha ha!

Loss of Sidetone

Don Nesbitt
Hi Bob - "Lost Sidetone" is fairly common.

First:   Please check that you do have the Sidetone Level turned up (Menu
 >StL>Edit>turn vfo knob to set number around 020>Menu>Menu)

Chances are that your level is already adequate and increasing it won't
result in your hearing it!

Second:  Select Sidetone Source (most common solution):

Menu>StL>Edit>Display (note: tapping the Display button cycles the sidetone
source between U6-25 (leaves you without a sidetone) and U8-4 (that give you
back your sidetone!)>Menu>Menu

All should be right with the Sidetone world again.  If it's not something
else is wrong!  Either way, please report back to the reflector or you will
continue to be deluged with mail!  73 es have fun -- Don N4HH
