Dear Elcrafters,
I don't have the sub receiver (jet) but I do have the tuner installed. Is it possible to use the 2nd antenna as an RX antenna? I would like to transmit on a vertical on ANT 1 and use beverages on ANT 2. Do I need to switch back and forward between ANT 1 and ANT 2 or can I set the K3 to do this automatically?

You would have to switch back and forth manually, a
dangerous solution. If you wish to use a receiving antenna you can
purchase the transverter kit which supports a receive
antenna.
You could also build a box with a relay that switches to
the Xmit antenna on ptt ground, much like the transverter board. You can
also include a toggle to switch between the xmit or receive antenna regardless
of the ptt state.

Maarten,
Without severe modification to the KAT3 including the addition of another relay (don't know how you would switch it - firmware will not), you cannot do as you suggest. The KXV3 option does provide the receive antenna capability and I would suggest adding that option. 73, Don W3FPR Maarten van Rossum wrote: > Dear Elcrafters, > > I don't have the sub receiver (jet) but I do have the tuner installed. > Is it possible to use the 2nd antenna as an RX antenna?
