APF suggestion

S Sacco
I've been enjoying the APF quite a bit.

My only suggestion, mirroring what some other folks have said, would
be to have it enabled by the "NTCH" button rather than the "XFIL"
button.

I find myself sometimes switching through the different filters when I
really want the APF.

73,
Steve

Re: APF suggestion

What do you propose for those of us that use the Notch all the time? Should it just be removed?

If there's this much trouble with toggling through filters on accident, wouldn't it make more sense to have the tap XFIL button the APF on/off button, and the HOLD the Dual PB on/off function?  A message could come up saying APF N/A if the Dual PB was on, and a message that said Dual PB N/A if the APF were already on....
Of course there could be a menu selection for those that want to have the XFIL button work as normal...

Honestly, after testing the APF I really don't find THAT much need to open and close the filters while I'm in the APF mode, if I do, I guess I could just as easily turn the Width knob to adjust the Width to my liking....  Just my opinion.

Re: APF suggestion

S Sacco
Perhaps it's me doing something dumb, but the Notch function doesn't
seem to work concurrently with the APF; ergo my suggestion.

What I find with the XFIL button is that I'm inadvertently and
frequently toggling through the filter settings when I just want to
enable/disable the APF.

Re: APF suggestion

The Smiths
In reply to this post by S Sacco

I'm still running Alpha software and my notch does work with the APF on.. so I'm not sure if it doesn't in the 4.18 release software.  But I still wouldn't want to loose the option for it to work if I had to go into the menu to select between the two tools.
The DSP CAN'T run the Dual PF and the APF at the same time, therefore using that Dual PB button was the best answer to the problem of where to put it.  However, like I said, since people are having toggle issues with hitting the XFIL on accident instead of HOLDING Dual PB, I figured that it would be best to just put it there instead. The N/A reminder would tell people when they need to turn one or the other off...

1. The notch filter only works in MANUAL mode in CW mode.  When it is in manual
mode you have to adjust the notch the carrier using the VFO B knob.

2. The APF does not work when you TAP the XFIL button.  That changes the filter.
You have to HOLD the DUAL PB button.  When a label is yellow it means that you
have to hold the button above the label down (I think it's for 200ms) to active
the menu item named in yellow.
