About BL2 Balun

Pierre
Hi folks

A question about BL2  Wideband 1:1 & 4:1 (Switchable) Balun. Does it also have some kind of'choking' effect (to reduce or eliminate currents on the outside of the coax)... or is it just a balun (TLT) to transform impedances ?

Thanks

Re: About BL2 Balun

Don Wilhelm-4
Pierre,

It is a current choke in either configuration.  Take a look at the
assembly manual and that should be apparent.if you compare the balun
schematic with standard schematics for current chokes.

FB John, but can it 'choke' outside coax currents, like a coiled choke
can do? I cannot see how.. ??

Re: About BL2 Balun

Don Wilhelm-4
Pierre,

The turns through the ferrite cores constitute 2 bifilar winding of
sufficient inductance to provide the required choking impedance.
