Hello All, This is my first post. I have gotten to the point of finishing
part II test on my K2 #52**, everything came out great with the exception of the last test. The IF alignment, all I am getting on 40m is very faint white noise with no birdie or other noise. I also have to have the AF gain all the way up to hear anything. I checked the archives and found similar problems with all different fixes. Any ideas where to start?? I will double check all solder joints tomorrow. Rick _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Rick,
Yes, the soldering is a good place to start. A few simple things - did you forget to install C6 on the bottom of the board? Did you install C6 properly in the two outer holes of the set of 3 holes? Did you install the jumpers? Try some 'Quick and Dirty Signal Tracing' - Tom Hammond has provided a good set of instructions that you can download from the Elecraft website or I believe they may still be posted at Tom's website www.n0ss.net . Try touching an antenna to the collector of Q22 - then Q21 - can you hear a signal if the antenna is placed at W6? How about at W1? There are more places to check to refine the search for the problem area, but those can be starters for you. Follw the progress of the signal through the schematic for the easiest way to determine what is failing. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > Hello All, This is my first post. I have an unopened 4 band K1 with backlight and stand that, unfortunately,
due to a recent setback and disability, I will have to part company with. I can offer it either as is unbuilt immediately, or I can build it and then sell it to you built with the bands of your specification. Please email me off line for prices and details. I will make a deal on this. I could also use some prayer right now if any of you that are so inclined. Still looking for offers on this. I don't expect to get the same price as
what Elecraft sells it for, but I don't want to get taken on it either. No firm offers yet.
