Amateur Electronics History

I received an inquiry from a reporter on the east coast who is looking
for information on the history of not just amateur radio, but amatuer
electronics. He is sure that someone must have written a  book or
article on the history of amatuer electronics, but has been unable to
find any information. If anyone knows of a resource you may email me
directly and I will forward it on to him.
