Just finished the CQ WPX RTTY contest. Not a serious effort but
interesting. I used the K3 CW > DATA feature to work 130 Qs. I wonder how many others have tried this. The hardest part was copying the calls as they flashed across the K3 display. After a few Qs it becomes easier. Now when the Aptos crew gets the CW > SSB feature working I will attempt an SSB contest ;o) 73 Joe K2UF No trees were harmed in the sending of this e-mail; however, many electrons were inconvenienced. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Joe,
I believe the CW in SSB feature is "fixed" with no effort on the part of the folks at Elecraft. Do not attempt to use it if you have QRQ mode turned on - it will not work. Turn QRQ off and it will work just fine. There are other limitations to QRQ mode, but for operating convenience, some of those limitations like split and RIT/XIT have been dealt with automatically (if you enter SPLIT, QRQ turns off). To use CW in SSB, you have to turn it off manually. 73, Don W3FPR On 2/12/2012 7:32 PM, Joe K2UF wrote: > Now when the Aptos crew gets the CW> SSB feature working I will attempt an > SSB contest ;o) > > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Just for kicks thats all I use for RTTY contacts, approaching 100 DXCC just
using the paddle. I am not a RTTY operator, so working them with the paddle is just what the Doc ordered. Just a spare time endeavor.. I agree when I can use the paddle for SSB QSOs I may QSY to the nose bleed section of the bands. No mic no cables needed K3 operations. 73 Merv K9FD/KH6 > Just finished the CQ WPX RTTY contest. So, Elecraft is coming out with CW --> SSB. I never knew that and I can't wait.
But, I hope they do this right. I mean, SSB by itself would not be as useful as choosing the target language for that SSB. I can see where English is obvious but I might want to try my hand at Spanish, or maybe French and German. Ideally, we would do CW in English translated to Spanish SSB or visa-versa. Google can do it, certainly the wizards of Aptos can do it too. Hello Does anyone know the shipping dimensions (box size) of the KPA500? Is it the same as the K3? I am trying to estimate transportation costs and could not find this information on the Elecraft site. Thanks Marcelo, PY1KN ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
