Another ladder line spreader idea

Albers
If you go to Lowes or Homely Depot and look in the Electrical section you will find a variety of staples for non-metallic cable (a.k.a. Romex (c) ) that consist of a plastic bridge with nails inserted into two holes at the ends. They come in a variety of sizes.

Pull out the nails and the holes in the plastic bridges will probably be a good size for a tight slip fit for the wire you're using - OK, maybe you will have to chase the holes with a drill to get the right size.

Of course, there's a lot of work involved to slip the wires through all the spacers - As is true of the 25 cent nylon spacers described in the first post on this topic. But the staples are a heck of a lot cheaper! Plus, you end up with a bunch of nails as a bonus.

I don't know what the UV resistance of the plastic material is, but I did have a ladder line like this up for several years with no apparent degradation.

Re: Another ladder line spreader idea

Love hearing about everybody's ideas for ladder line.  Currently I am using the 1/4" drip tubing cut in 6" lengths and reinforced with bamboo shish kabob skewers inserted.  Gorilla glue seals the ends.  This line is practically invisible against the trees and that keeps KG6MZR happy.

My K3 has really directed my interest in the hobby toward antennae.  The first thing I did when I got the K3 was dump my store-bought G5RV and design and erect a couple  of multiband doublets.  I know I am satisfied with my radio because I no longer gaze longingly at rig ads in QST.  Now antennae and towers....   :-)
