I am sure I should know the answer to this but so far I have not been able
to discover it. I had my very first QSO awhile ago with my brand-new K-3. It did work but the poor soul on the other end had to endure a very sloppy fist coming from my station. I went into the configure menu and discovered that it was set for iambic B. It should have been Iambic A. The timing is just different enough to give me fits. Now the problem. I can't seem to figure out how to change it from Iambic B to A . I'm sure it's somewhere in the manual but I have yet to discover it. Can anyone offer me the magic key? The other issue is that the side tone level is rather low. The monitor level is set to the max, i.e., 40. It is still rather low through my proset headphones. Is there any way to boost that a bit. I get fairly decent audio level on receive with the AF gain at about the 12 o'clock position and with the AF gain set to high. I would like a bit more side tone level without increasing the overall audio gain. Does anyone have any suggestions about that? I do thank everyone. Bruce,
To change from Iambic B to A, when the menu item is displayed, just rotate the VFO A knob to change the parameter. The entire menu works similarly - rotate VFO B to select the menu item desired and then rotate VFO A to change the parameters. I can't help with your sidetone issue - be certain the pitch is set for your best hearing. It may that the default pitch of 600 Hz does not match the sweet spot for your ears. As a clue that 600 Hz may not match your ears, I have the AF gain set to low, and rarely rotate it beyond the 10 o'clock position - and I have a hearing loss problem myself. 73, Don W3FPR Bruce McLaughlin wrote: > Now the problem. I tried that. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. Rotating VFO A causes
the large capital A in the upper right corner of the monitor to change to a lower case b but the message at the bottom does not change from IAM B. I've made the change then exited the menu but when I re-enter the large capital A is back and the message still says IAM B. I must be going something wrong but I don't know what it is? Bruce,
You are expecting too much! That menu name is "CW IAMB" - the "B" is part of the name and will not change. The letter in the upper part of the display is the current setting. Change the parameter to "b", exit the menu. Then re-enter the menu and you should see the "b" still displayed (or change it to "A" rather than "b" and it should stay at "A". 73, Don W3FPR Bruce McLaughlin wrote: > I tried that. The letter at the top *is* the iambic mode. If you have changed it to A, then you are set to mode A. The message at the bottom is the name of the menu parameter, which is CW IAMB, short for "CW Iambic mode". -- 73, Vic, K2VCO Fresno CA http://www.qsl.net/k2vco _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
