Any K1 Mobileer's Out There?

George
Chris, I have used mine mobile 40,30,20, &17. I use hamstick ant. Many
contacts including some DX even on 40. I use mine also potable with a 32' Vert,
held up with a Jackite pole.

I have also used some 2 watt rigs mobile on 40 meters. Kept me company
going back and forth to work. Retired now so not as much mobile, but more
portable operation.  72 George/W2BPI

Chris, AJ1G from Stonington, CT here.  Just subscribed to the list  today.
I
have been running my K1 mobile for over a year now, mostly on  40 CW, less
so
on 20.  Originally in our 1998 Volvo V70XC, recently  relocated to our new
Tacoma 4X4, along with an old RT-77 AN/GRC-9 Army  field/vehicular radio.  I
use Hamstick clones, mostly the OPEKs,and have  had some amazing QSOs with
the K1, most notably a 40 M QSO to ZL early one  morning from down at my
favorite local mobile operating spot, Stonington  Point, CT, about 5 miles
from here.

Interested in hearing about other  people's experiences doing mobile  ops
with the K1 or other Elecraft  rigs.

Chris,
I used my K1 mobile a few times with a 40 meter hamstick type antenna.  Once was on field day weekend a few years ago when I was on my way to Montreal for the jazz festival.  Made quite a few contacts while my wife was driving.  I also used it on trips back and forth to Massachusetts to visit my son when he was in law school.  Nice rig.  I still use it at home occasionally when I'm not using the K3, but I have an FT-857D installed in the mobile now for my one hour commute to work every day.
73,
Art  WB8ENE

Only issue I currently have with my K1 is a flaky headphone jack connection,
seems like the problem is in the jack contacts and the jack will need to be
replaced.  I assume that I should be able to get one from Elecraft and that
I can find info on how to go about that here on the forum.
