is there a need for the handle? My K3 will live on a desk and never be
moved or dragged around. Eventually, the rest of the K-Line will join it on the desk. I don't know of any documented need for the handle, but I suspect there may be a secret "Elecraft Mojo Core" module installed in the middle of it. If you find that you're not making it through the pile-ups before your neighbours, you may want to try installing the handle. :) ~iain / N6ML ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
You can tell that your K3's handle has the Elecraft Mojo Core if it has a
slight curve in it, due to being hand-carried through airports and ports to some exotic DX QTH, where the Core gets downloaded over the air from other Elecrafties in the pileups, using the Elecraft Mojo Transfer Protocol (EMTP). Even if you only operate at home, provided you work enough exotic DX with your Elecraft gear, the Core will eventually accumulate in the handle from all the pileups and DX QSOs and gradually a gentle curve will set in. If your K3 has a flat handle, you are evidently not working enough DX. Taking the rig to somewhere such as Wake Island or Peter I will speed up the mojo transfer and the curvature process dramatically. 73 Gary ZL2iFB > -----Original Message----- > From: [hidden email] [mailto:elecraft- > [hidden email]] On Behalf Of iain macdonnell - N6ML > Sent: Tuesday, 7 February 2012 10:01 a.m. > To: Bill > Cc: [hidden email] > Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Any need for the handle? > > On Mon, Feb 6, 2012 at 12:55 PM, Bill <[hidden email]> wrote: > > is there a need for the handle? If the handle is removed, you'll be forced to actually say, "My *name*

Getting legal permission to operate your K3 from North Korea will cause
the mojo transfer to almost instantaneous ;-) 73, Ross N4RP On 2/7/2012 3:09 PM, Gary Hinson wrote: > You can tell that your K3's handle has the Elecraft Mojo Core if it has a > slight curve in it, due to being hand-carried through airports and ports to > some exotic DX QTH, where the Core gets downloaded over the air from other > Elecrafties in the pileups, using the Elecraft Mojo Transfer Protocol > (EMTP). > > Even if you only operate at home, provided you work enough exotic DX with > your Elecraft gear, the Core will eventually accumulate in the handle from > all the pileups and DX QSOs and gradually a gentle curve will set in. Gary,
Setting my P3 to the left of the K3 caused the K3 Handle to expand to the point of pushing the P3 1/2" from where it was originally on the OP. Investigation of my logs indicates that the phenomenon may have been caused by the daily rate of increased DX contacts in the log since acquiring the P3. Does that mean my K3, P3 and KPA500 all have Mojo? 73, Tom Hinson Childers Amateur Radio Operator N5GE ARRL Lifetime Member QCWA Lifetime Member "Only the white eyes would believe they could cut the top off a blanket, sew it to the bottom and have a longer blanket." -- American Indian comment about Daylight Saving Time -- On Wed, 8 Feb 2012 09:09:08 +1300, "Gary Hinson" <[hidden email]> wrote: >You can tell that your K3's handle has the Elecraft Mojo Core if it has a >slight curve in it, due to being hand-carried through airports and ports to >some exotic DX QTH, where the Core gets downloaded over the air from other >Elecrafties in the pileups, using the Elecraft Mojo Transfer Protocol >(EMTP). > >Even if you only operate at home, provided you work enough exotic DX with >your Elecraft gear, the Core will eventually accumulate in the handle from >all the pileups and DX QSOs and gradually a gentle curve will set in.
