Audio Question

Kevin GraY-3
Completely new to the K2.  Just picked up a used one to see if the rig was
everything that I have read about for the past several years.

I am not getting favorable reports on my audio.  I use the Heil hand mic
that Elecraft sold.  I have been told that I may be crowding the mic.

Another issue is the volume of the signal.  It seems low to me.  With the
audio turned all the way up it seems like about 50% of most of the rigs I am
normally use.

Do you think I have a K2 with a problem or is this normal?

Kevin

Kevin,

You might post what serial # you have so everyone knows the vintage.

My K2  (4331) has plenty of output audio but I have yet to get a good audio
report on it. It doesnt sound bad, but just not keep up with the other rigs
in the shack (Pro III and Pegasus). I am running a Heil/Elecraft MD2.

I'm not an SSB guy, so someone else will have to give you the details,
but I know that the audio quality the K2's SSB signal is very dependent
on careful filter/BFO alignment.  If you are getting reports of poor
audio, this is something to look at.
