Automatic RX Switching - Multi Operator Environment

Kevin Stockton
At our contest QTH we currently have a couple of K3s in use.  Our station is setup so that two rigs can be on the same band at the same time.  An external homebrew hardware device is used to allow each rig to share one transmit antenna.  This setup ensures that both rigs are not transmitting simultaneously and that the front end of either rig is not blown up.

A second external hardware device is used to automatically switch the non transmitting rig to a receive antenna, usually a beverage.  This allows either station to continue to receive while the other station is transmitting on the main antenna.  Is it possible to link two K3s in such a way to replace this second piece of external hardware?  In other words when one K3 transmits, a message is sent to the other K3 to automatically switch to the RX antenna port?  Along the same lines of a TX inhibit except this would be switching the other rig to a RX antenna.  This second piece of external hardware does not offer any front end protection it only allows the inactive rig to continue to receive while the active rig is transmitting.

Is this possible to do?

Thanks,
Kevin, N5DX
