Aw nertz

Alexandra Carter
Hm, I'm building along and it appears all my slug-tuned inductors um,
aren't there. Like, they weren't put into the kit. So, I have to wait a
few days I guess to get some. The toroids are easy though, they're
really not hard to wind. I'm left-handed but I wind 'em right-handed,
it works out great - I learned this on another kit a while back. (I
send CW with my right hand too, use my left to write. At a blazing
something like 3WPM these days lol.)

Fooey no stink of tinning toroids for a few days, 73 de Alex NS6Y

Glad you asked! It's left unpopulated on mine, and mine seems to work
to a T. I also seem to remember something in the manual about that one
being left unpopulated. You might try reading through your manual
again, since the control board is small and simple and it should be
easy to find C44 being talked about. And here's another tip, download
the manual as the .pdf file from Elecraft, then you can look at that on
your computer and do a search for C44 and quickly find all references
to it - as they say in UNIXland, you can't grep dead trees. 73 de Alex

Page 21:
Option Components
All component locations on the Control board should now be filled
except for the following:
* C44 (top side of the board near the microcontroller, U6). This
capacitor will not be used.
* J1 and J2 (bottom side). These two connectors are provided for
an audio filter option (KAF2 or KDSP2). An audio filter should
not be installed until the K2 has been completed and tested.

My computer's sick. I think my modem is a carrier.
