I bought the BL2 PC board (E100253) and the switch (E640019) and removed the
components from the BL1 and mounted them on the BL2 board. I now have a BL1
with switchable 4:1 or 1:1 operation.
Then I took my K2 out to our vacation house and set up my portable antenna -
a 40 meter inverted vee fed with 300-ohm twinlead. It is up on a 28-foot
pole and the feedline is about 50 feet long.
I tried every band from 40m to 10m in both the 4:1 and 1:1 positions and
noted the resulting SWR after the KAT2 found a match. My conclusion is that
I will leave it in the 4:1 position for this antenna at this location.
The BL2 has two cores and is rated for 250W. I felt that the BL1 power
rating was more than sufficient for the K2 by itself. I use the BL2 at home
with the QRO (100W to 150W) rigs and for that application I use the 1:1
position..
