Remember that unless you're doing something to share the serial port
between two or more programs, only one at a time can be connected to the
KX3. So if you're connected with RumLog, you can't connect with the KX3
Utility.

I'm actually old enough to get the Maynard G. Krebs reference. :-(

I retired from a software development position in IT after 30+ years.
During that time, I was a programmer, systems analyst, database
administrator and a systems programmer on IBM mainframes.
I was also very active in getting my organization to embrace the PC
platform.

Until recently, I always bought the latest and greatest PCs from Gateway
and Dell.
Usually they were more powerful than the ones in my office.

Having an electronics background as well as a computer science
background, I've been fascinated with applications of computers to ham
radio.
At first it was simply logging contacts, but now I'm constantly looking
into interfacing the radios with the computer.

Now, the only thing remaining is to separate myself from the computer
and time-wasters like Facebook, so that I can spend more time on the air.
