Bands In Sad Shape

Mark, KJ7BS
What happened to the bands today?  I hear almost nothing.  I did hear, and
work, ZF2AH this morning on 17m, but nothing else until this evening when I
called CQ on 7.055 and I got TI2RDP responding to my call.

I did notice the A index was at 70 this morning and has fallen to 10 at 0636
UTC.

Re: Bands In Sad Shape

Things should be much better for a while now. Sunspot 930 threw out
four XRay-class flares (really  major), a couple of which caused
major geomagnetic storms, including one from Thursday through early
Saturday. VHF and 10m operation was enhanced at times from various
propagation modes, but the lower bands were pretty much killed. There
were some magnificent Auroras reported (not here in the SF Bay area,
though where there is LOTS of light pollution).

Things should be returning to normal very soon if not already.
