Hi Everyone,
After reading literally dozens of postings on the 'problems' with NR in Beta 3.27, I have seen only 2 responses about NR in Beta 3.30 since its release. Not being one to jump into beta versions too fast myself, I ask: 1. How's the new NR doing in 3.30 2. Is the extended bass response from 3.25 back again as was indicated that it would be? Inquiring minds want to know. 73 de N1LQ-Dave ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
The NR is quite great... There are lots of choices to choose from. I
was quite impressed with it. Found some choices in the top 16 that I really liked for SSB. Found some in the bottom 16 that I loved for CW. Color me happy. Granted its a lot of choices but I dig choice. The low frequency response that I loved so much in 3.25 has yet to return in 3.30. But we have been told that it will come back at some point in time. Here's hoping its soon. ~Brett (KC7OTG) On Thu, 2009-09-03 at 18:00 -0400, David and Dianne on Comcast wrote: > er reading literally dozens of postings on the 'problems' with NR in > Beta 3.27, I have seen only 2 responses about NR in Beta 3.30 since > its > release. > > Not being one to jump into beta versions too fast myself, I ask: > > 1. Jump in Dave. It just takes a few minutes to go back to the old version.
NR has plenty of choices. For CW I found the usual F1-2 or so is fine. No....No bass yet for some reason. I keep wondering why it's so hard to get those low notes! It appears to have something for almost everybody .... but it still
takes a couple of seconds to kick in. And if the signal goes away (on CW - don't know about SSB) it changes. Then the signal comes back and it changes. At least it did the couple times I tried it. Personally I like the good old NR from the "other JA radio". You hit the NR button and it makes the CW signal that you could barely hear in the noise readable. That's all I want. Plain and simple. I don't want to be screwing with knobs and levels and all that when I'm trying to run, or at least keep rate up. Make it F9-1 - NR for dummies like me! 73 Hank K8DD David and Dianne on Comcast wrote: > Hi Everyone, > > After reading literally dozens of postings on the 'problems' with NR in > Beta 3.27, I have seen only 2 responses about NR in Beta 3.30 since its > release. > > Not being one to jump into beta versions too fast myself, I ask: > > 1. There is a heavy thunderstorm 30 NM from me between us. With the NR on my K3 set to F8-1 I am able to copy his USB signal without any trouble at all. Rig is K3 SN 1055 using the XV144 XVRTR with the preamp in a TE Systems 1452G amplifier running 350 watts. The antenna is an M2 18XXX 18 element Yagi. That's how it works... I am perfectly satisfied with the performance of the New NR additions. My hat is off to the great Elecraft Team.
