Bigger K3 and New Review

Don Rasmussen
Wayne showed me a concept drawing of the original K3.

It was everything you might expect, given the huge popularity of the K2.

It just looked like a K2 plus and addressed some of the physical limitations of K2. It has a slightly bigger box, more memory, etc.

The K2 was, based on many QRP designs of course but with as good as it was everyone forgot about that.

And Wayne being a dreamer kept pushing beyond practical limits and Eric kept finding a way to make the impossible, practical. I'm told their might have been occasional and brief "reluctance" at times.

ARE YOU NUTS? ;0)   joking...

When I first got my K3 I suggested to Wayne that what really struck me was the sheer scale of the effort.

"It really struck us too" was the reply. ;-) Can you imagine?

The K3 has only grown into the size and featured transceiver it is through great dreams, a disregard for all that is practical or possible in a fair work week, and some talented folks like Lyle.

I'm very glad to have been around for both the K2 and the K3 rides. I point to the latest QST review to suggest that the guys have "made it" and maybe it's Miller Time or whatever equivalent.

I would have retired after K2, it was a killer effort. K3 - forget it, way too much to do over too long a span. And I see no signs of any slowing.

Wondering what's in the brownies...
