Blues [OT]

Edward R Cole
Wayne and all:

Hmm at age 68 is not the same as I was at 48 (more aches from
arthritis which do not go away).  I am actually ten lbs lighter (180
on 6-foot frame) and walk 5+ miles/day on concrete floors at my job
at a "big box" store as sales assoc.  I get to sit down 3 times
during the 8-hour shift!  But ibuprofen is my friend getting thru
this.  After putting in 32/hour weeks for 4 months it is no better
for the exercise so some things are not reversable.  My Dad lived to
91 and my Mom is 89; had two aunts live into their mid-nineties so
longevity is in the genes, but not necessarily full mobility or lack
of aches and pains.  Recently noticed my vision beginning to move
away from short sightedness  so that things are in full focus now at
about 3-feet (time for new glasses).  I used to be able to go without
glasses for close-work.

Trully? It is still 100's in the SF area?  We will be coming down to
SanJose for a conference Oct. 18-20 and figured on 70's wx.  It was
26F two nights ago up here (today 48 overcast) and leaves are about
all on the ground.  I mowed the lawn the last time for the year a
week ago (time to switch the lawn tractor to the
snowblower).  Anchorage had first snow last weekend (we only had
frost).  Early winter looks possible this year at 60.675 N latitude
(usually it hits by Haloween).

73, Ed - KL7UW

Re: Blues [OT]

I'll just say this about aging:

A few years ago there was a story in the New York Times about retirees
hanging out at Jones Beach. Seems that the same little bunch had been there
for about 20 years, watching the waves and swapping stories. The reporter
asked one what they talked about. "Well," said the guy, "at first we talked
about women. Then later we talked about investments. Now we mostly talk
about doctors."
