The best one I have used is made by arlancommunications radiosport. They
are not inexpensive but you get what you pay for. They have great build quality and will last a very long time. http://www.arlancommunications.com/products/amateurRadio/radioSport/Headsets.asp 73 Greg AB7R On Wed, Nov 30, 2011 at 2:13 PM, Ricardo Navarrete <[hidden email]>wrote: > *Hello,* > *I'm looking for a good Headset with boom for my K3 , I mainly practise CW > and SSB only for new ones or rare DX.....* > * > * > *Thanks for your help!!! > * > > -- > EA4ZK Ricardo Navarrete > [hidden email] > Tnx es cul , 73 gd DX > *Visita la nueva web de actividades EA* > http://eaweb.ea4zk.es > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Try the Yamaha CM-500. It has gotten a lot of great comments here on
the reflector, is comfortable on the ears over a long period of time and has a very good electret microphone element. Take a look at the Elecraft reflector archives for a lot of information and testimonials. 73, Don W3FPR On 11/30/2011 5:13 PM, Ricardo Navarrete wrote: > *Hello,* > *I'm looking for a good Headset with boom for my K3 , I mainly practise CW > and SSB only for new ones or rare DX.....* > * > * > *Thanks for your help!!! > * > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Hi Ricardo,
I have to agree 100 percent with Don. I have a CM-500. It was less expensive than the Heil and I have tried them both. The CM-500 is more comfortable for me to wear for long periods than the Heil, David Clark or several other Boom sets I've either owned or borrowed over the years. The microphone in the CM-500 seems to match my voice perfectly (the Heil and David Clark electret's did not) and I didn't have to mess with the K3's transmit equalizer at all. I just left it set at zero's across the board. Although I detest VOX and never use it, I did test the CM-500 with the K3's VOX and it worked flawlessly. I also use Elecraft's MH2 hand microphone and it too matches my voice without further adjustment. Jim - W0EB > Try the Yamaha CM-500. Hi Ricardo and Don,
I also enjoyed the Yamaha CM-500 but I was very disappointed when it failed last week after only 11 months of use. There is a mesh webbing that rests on your head and it became detached at one end. I opened up the headset to determine if it could be repaired easily and it can't. I can see how to do a sloppy fix with super glue but since it was within the one year warranty I decided to send it back to Yamaha. Navigating their website was not pleasant. There is no way that I could see to e-mail or phone customer service so I followed the instructions on the headset package and just shipped it back. I prefer having a RMA number but hopefully I will get satisfactory results with the approach I took. I know lots of K3 users have purchased the CM-500 and I don't recall ever seeing a posting about this type of failure. They were used very gently so I hope this was just an unusual manufacturing defect. 73, Mike K2MK

I concur with Jim and Don. CM500 is not available in Hong Kong. A pilot ham brought it to me when he flew to VR2. Very value for money.
