Building Your New K2 With Un-Module Headers

Gary Hvizdak
THIS MESSAGE IS FOR THOSE OF YOU CONTEMPLATING BUILDING YOUR NEW K2 PER
THE SUGGESTION ON OUR "UNPCBS" WEBSITE FOR CREATING A REWORK-FREE PLUG &
PLAY READY STANDARD/BARE K2.  FURTHER, IT IS ONLY FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO
HAVEN'T YET ORDERED THE NECESSARY DUPLICATE REPLACEMENT K2 PARTS.

                               --- - - - ---

Ken and I did not realize that Elecraft doesn't have the manpower nor
the inventory to supply these parts to all of our Rework Eliminator(TM)
un-module accessory customers (and perhaps others as well who might choose
to homebrew their own un-module headers).  Rather, Elecraft can only provide
individual spare parts as necessary to replace loss or damage.  Therefore,
we request that you please not attempt to order the individual parts from
Elecraft.  Likewise, we will shortly be removing all references on our
website to getting these parts from them.

Instead, Ken and I will be making these parts available as kits within
approximately two weeks.  (Ironically, this is something that many of our
customers had been suggesting from the very beginning.)  Please realize that
we will not be able to match Elecraft's spare parts prices as these were
close to their cost.  Also, we don't yet know what our parts kits will be,
nor if there will even be a demand for these kits at the prices we will need
to charge.  Similarly, the demand might be more that we can meet, so a
two-week backorder is another real possibility.

If you want to build your new standard/bare K2 right away (but don't
have these parts) then we suggest that you follow the normal assembly method
described in the K2 manual.  An alternative would be to buy all of the K2
options right now!  However, since Elecraft will effectively be closed until
after the new year, the options would likely not arrive until late next
week.

73 & Happy K2 Building,
Gary, KI4GGX
K2 #4067
