C/O Brian (Web Administrator) K4

JIM DAVIS-11
Gentlemen,

I'd say that the powers-to-be are now working on the latest and greatest "K4"!

Why would they do that "you-ask?"

Simple, now that most of the issues surrounding the K3 have been addressed and "FIXED"  it would
stand to logical reasoning that
by virtue of the postings on the reflector that something is in "The Wind", of something newer"!"
I've spent my own "hard-earned $$$" to get the BEST (as everyone else has), but I only hope that
the powers-to-be ARE HONEST ENOUGH TO SAY WHEN THIS WILL BE OCCURRING!!! So that we users can
either gear
up to sell our rigs on the used market (UGH!) or what seems to be the better idea even when a NEW
rig may come out,to KEEP our K3s and buy a (K4) as a standby!  :-)))

Regards,

Jim/nn6ee

Dear Wes,

If you've noticed on the "Reflector" as of late the problems have been minimal
at best! Knobs cracking/breaking or maybe something not up to snuff as concerns CW keying, or
maybe ONE PERSON DOES'NT LIKE A PARTICULAR OS! That in my book is all about personal preference,
not the fault of "Elecraft" in that with the "rev. 3.14" the rig does absolutely EVERYTHING we're
asking of it and can find NO FAULT @ all!

If you're own GRIPES have'nt been addressed by them (Elecraft) then "Why not?".

Regards,

Jim/nn6ee

PS,

We operate on CW/SSB/& Digital FLAWLESSLY!

Re: C/O Brian (Web Administrator) K4

K2QI
Well, to be honest there are still several features advertised that to this
date still haven't been implemented.  For example:

1. Synchronous AM detection
2. Temperature controlled oscillator calibration

Those are just two features missing that I can recall of the top of my head.

Plus there are always improvements in the works.  The next version of the
firmware contains a lot of pleasant surprises.

Also "on the list" from 4/3/08:

The NOTCH button.  The way it is now:
Tap it to turn on AutoNOTCH.
Tap it again and it goes to MANUAL NOTCH, but you can't
adjust it unless you then HOLD it.
Tap it again and it goes off.

HOLD it and it goes to MANUAL NOTCH and you can
  adjust the notch frequency.

Why not:
Tap NOTCH and AutoNOTCH comes on.
Tap it again and AutoNOTCH goes off.
Or
HOLD NOTCH and it goes to MANUAL NOTCH and you
can adjust the notch frequency.
Tap it and it goes off.
