I worked for a small manufacturer of electrical goods and know we put
CE stickers on goods which were made without even a Master electrician
being on the pay roll. That was unearthed and nothing happened! So here
was a manufacturer who mass-produced goods and the CE stickers were
just - stickers). Get used to civil disobediance. I know a ham in
Thailand facing 10 years in jail for having an Icom 706 MK II G in his
car. Bringing a KX1 in might get me 5 years... They would have shut
down Bill Gates' business as it was in a garage. So get your K3s,
enjoy them and stop worrying.
Years ago, I read a comparison of the K1 and the KX1. Both rigs have
different strengths, of course. But do I remember it correctly, the RX
performance was almost on par, the ATU of the K1 was clearly better.
And the KX1 let one even hear world band radio with the 30 m module.
Q: would you order the paddle? Or to put it differently, is it good?
** I recall reading a post from Wayne N6KR that the paddle is an
essential part of the KX1's philosophy. But I would think I'll be
operating in the shack like 85% of time and I have a Bengali and
Schurr Profi 2 paddle.
Bottom line: size apart, would you order the K1 or the KX1? Would the
KX1 be a good choice in the shack, too?
Mni tnx es 72,
Chris Hs0zfe (hoping to get the K3 legalized in Thailand)
