CQRLOG and K3

I have installed CQRLOG logging programme on a laptop running Fedora 14.
The laptop is linked to the K3 via a KUSB cable using the Prolific
Driver for Linux.
So far I have failed to reach the objective of getting CQRLOG to
communicate with the K3.
I suspect that I have not properly installed the driver.

Please, can anyone with relevant experience give me some helpful advice?

Is there a version of the K3 utility you can run? If that works, it would verify the
driver, and hardware.
