Don't worry about making mistakes, Frank, whether they be procedural or Morse. We've ALL been through those first few QSOs and made plenty of errors.
Probably the most common beginner's mistake is to repeat unnecessarily. If someone tells you you're 579, you have a good signal and he's copying you perfectly. No need to send F-r-a-n-k more than once!
Most of all, have fun and try to emulate those guys who sound good to you.
