Canceled my K3, bummer.

Gary D Krause
I canceled my K3 order.  With the price of food and fuel along with everything
else, I figured it would be smart to hold off for now.

The good news is that I still have my K2 which is a terrific rig and I'm
guessing that everyone else gets bumped up another notch!

I still plan to buy a K3, it's just not going to happen as soon as I wanted.

Gary, N7HTS

Canceled my K3, bummer.

Johnny Siu

Hello Gary,

It's ok.  Perhaps, you will be able to get a more mature K3 later.  Bearing in mind, K2 becomes 'stabilised' after s/n 4xxx.

cheers,

Johnny Siu VR2XMC

Hmmm ... you could have taken your "K3 slot" in the queue, bundled it
with others who need to cancel, create a group of "K3 Backed
Securities," used them as collateral for a bond issue, and then bought a
slot back, getting the original K3 and all the while feeding your family
and fueling the car.  After all, it worked just super with mortgages.

Maybe you could have put your order on "hold" to keep your spot in the queue
and then reactivate when economic condx allow.  Maybe too late now, but that was an
option earlier this year.

With the current recession (sorry credit crunch), I am thinking
about making my K3 available for hire for  contests and
DXpeditions :-)

Re: K3 CANCELLATIONS

KENT TRIMBLE
I wish to applaud those who are deciding to put family budgets ahead of
ham radio purchases.  Family needs ALWAYS come before hobbies.  Always.

The bell-curve peak for amateur radio seems to be middle-age (according
to my log book, anyway) or maybe a little past that (I'm 63).  This
means the majority of us have our kids raised, their education paid for,
our personal finances in order, and are in or near our peak earning
years.  So we can afford a few extra bucks now and then for new gear.
However, we weren't always in that situation, and we satisfied ourselves
for many years with what are now considered vintage rigs.

To those who find themselves forced to have second thoughts about owning
the "latest and greatest," . . . rest easy in your soul.  Your day will
come.  The bulk of your time and money right now belong to the kids you
brought into this world.   Ham radio can wait.

Thus endeth the sermon for today, with apologies.

Kent  K9ZTV

Ok I have scratched my head enough.

I have been busy with my new K3 #1339 and all is going great till I try the
Zero-Beat.
I am using the XG-2 and it gives a nice signal at 7.040 + - .
I am having trouble finding the REF Cal in the config menu.
I have scrolled these over and over and can't seem to find it.
Am I not in the right place.

Help?????

Thanks Guy's

Bob Cunnings NW8L
Have you set CONFIG: TECH MD to ON? REF CAL won't be available otherwise.

Gary,

You should be very proud that you placed your family first. I have known many hams who sacrificed family to buy their ham radio toys. The K2 is a wonderful radio whether it is the QRP or QRO version. I was given one to play with for the summer which impressed me so much I sold my Icom gear.

The good thing is Elecraft is going to be around for a long time so you can order one when times get better.

Gary and All,

Very innovative idea Gary.  However, the bad news is that such an offer
would be made to more than the "de minimis" number of buyers, you'd be
offering across state lines, etc., and therefore require registration with
the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission)!  Guess what that involves!!!!
You  would have to file an S1, etc, and all your savings go out the window.
Worst of all, you have to get the lawyers involved!  Sometimes you just
can't win!
