Changes for KPA-100 Rev. D and the Toroid Guy

William Shappley
I just happened to have received a Rev. D KPA-100 a few days ago (I
have not started on it yet).  There are new loose schematics in the
front of the Rev D manual with instructions to use them instead of
the ones already bound in the Rev D manuals - the loose schematics
are labeled Rev H, 9/25/06.   The schematics already included in the
Rev D manual have an earlier date than the loose schematics (Rev H,
8/28/06) but in a side by side comparison I cannot find any
difference between them!  But by comparing the Rev. C schematic off
the Elecraft site with the new ones, I can find the differences:

The old L16 was on a Red T44-2 core, with 29 turns
The new L16 is on a blue T50-1 core, and has 37 turns

The old RFC1 was a pre-made large inductor - the new RFC1 is the same
as L16 (T50-1 core, 37 turns).

Incidentally, for the first time, I had the Toroid guy make my
inductors instead of winding them myself.  He gave me very quick
service, with excellent communications, and by the way he threw in
the new RFC1 and L16 (he had already shipped the "standard" Rev C
set) at no extra charge.  Highly recommended.  He e-mailed me and
asked whether I had received a Rev D kit even before I had checked
myself, so he is really on the ball.  And by the way, his toroids are
beautifully done.  I thought I wound a pretty good toroid (well, they
all worked, anyway) but his are really works of art!

Hope this helps,
