Changing the default CW sideband with Logger32

Gary Hinson
Dear Elecrafties,

I recently whinged about the K3 using the "wrong" sideband for CW, for me
anyway.  I prefer tuning from the bottom of the band upwards, hearing
successive CW tones going high-to-low as I go, which requires CW-REV on the
K3.  That's fine, until I click on a spot in Logger32: as well as QSYing the
rig for me, it automagically resets the radio to CW [normal]  :-(

I searched Logger32's help for clues and found a section on the K2/K3.
First I tried adapting Logger32's commands that can specify the filters to
also send a change mode command (i.e. MD7;) but couldn't make that fly.  It
seems the commands can be added to the Logger32.INI file but they don't seem
to work at all for me - neither mode nor filters get changed.  No doubt I'm
doing something daft but the help file doesn't quite help.

Well tonight I've found a simple workaround which does work.  Tell Logger32
to use mode CW-REV in place of CW in its band-mode table.   The table is
accessed from the Tools menu pull-down (select "Setup Bands & Modes").  Open
the table, find a CW entry, edit it to read CW-REV and hit return to finish
editing each one, then the next ... and finally click the Apply button.  Now
when I click a CW spot, the radio QSYs and stays in or goes to CW-REV.

Easy peasy  :-)

Now I really must remember to check whether N1MM's logger can do the same
trick, prior to the next contest ...

PS  I'd still appreciate having a K3 config menu option to swap CW with
CW-REV or change the default CW sideband, given the choice, but it's
definitiely not a priority for me any more!

Gary
I figures that you ZL guys would use CW-Rev and prefer hearing the pitch go
down as the frequency goes up. Up here above the equator, the default
setting, CW,  seems more natural to us. Now tell me, do whirlpools,
hurricanes and toilet swirlies really run counterclockwise down there as
some say?
Anyway, I'm glad you found the cure. I also use Logger32 for general
logging. It and the K3 get along quiet well. 73
