When the KX3 is NOT switched to 2 meters (or 4 meters), the KX3-2M/4M module is turned completely off, adding no current drain of its own.
When 2 m (or 4 m) is selected, the module adds a little over 100 mA, nominally. However, in FM mode, "SLEEP" settings can be used to drop the effective receive current drain of the module to as little as 20 mA. The module wakes up when a signal opens the squelch.
