Consistent power output problems

AD6XY
I am still having problems with the output power in SSB mode.

I have updated the firmware to the latest beta but it still is not behaving as it should. Here are my symptoms.

I set a power, any power it does not matter. I key the key to produce a tone output and see a spike at least 20% above the set power level, but only for the first transmission. After that the power drops back and stays correct until I change the power.  Then the process repeats.

This happens for all bands and for the transverter output. It does not happen in CW mode. You can only see it with a peak reading power meter. It is as if the ALC loop is reset each time you change power but only when using SSB.

This is not a problem unless you happen to be running a linear - but then it is potentially quite damaging. I managed to get the transverter output to spike to full power ~3mW a while ago but significantly reduced the overshoot that by re-calibrating the mW power gains. I know ALC overshoot is common in some of the lesser designs like the IC706 but I had hoped the K3 would not do this.

Am I alone experiencing this fault? Maybe there is an adjustment I can make to lessen it?

We're working more on ALC issues in development firmware. Meanwhile, if
the problem is only on SSB, you might try reducing the SSB Tx Gain
(CONFIG:TXG VCE).
