Conversions/calculator site extraordinaire

Steve Hostetler
  I use this site at work for converting various units into SI and I
thought many here might find it useful. It’s pretty impressive…

There's a great program for Linux (and probably many other OSes) called
"units", works like this:

You have: 0.1 million furlongs per fortnight
You want: kph
        * 59.871429
        / 0.016702458

... which basically means nearly 60 kph   :-)

You can remind yourselves what the bands are too:
You have: c / 144MHz
You want: m
        * 2.0818921
        / 0.4803323

That's probably 2m then   :-)

Just type ".1 million furlongs per fortnight in kph" into Google and it will
tell you the answer (59.8714286 kph).

You can even text it to them (GOOGLE=466453) from your phone if you're not
near a computer.

For a good time, try searching for the "miles per watt" award page.
Google helfully reduces it to fundamental units.  Speaking od which, the
award is apprently venerable, though it has been pointed out the Friis
equation is not linear.
