Corrected K3 MCU Firmware, rev. 1.66 (fixes ATU TUNE problem)

If you loaded K3 MCU revision 1.65, please load revision 1.66 instead,
which fixes a problem with ATU TUNE that was reported by a few
customers. Rev. 1.66 is now available on our web site.

In version 1.65, tapping ATU TUN would incorrectly use the power level
set in the new TUN PWR menu entry, and afterward would set the power
knob to this TUN PWR value.

The ATU TUNE power level is automatically controlled by firmware (5 W
and 10 W are used, depending on the SWR). The TUN PWR menu entry only
sets the power level for the regular TUNE switch.

Wayne

Re: Corrected K3 MCU Firmware, rev. 1.66

This is the first time I've done an update when I happened to notice that a new version of the updater is available. However unless I missed something, I still had to go to the Elecraft website and find the appropriate download link. Couldn't the updater download the update to itself? It could probably even update itself (the installer would have to check if it's running and ask you to close the active instance, but I've seen other programs that can do that.)

RE: Corrected K3 MCU Firmware, rev. 1.66

Dick Dievendorff
This is a preference.

I'd prefer not to do this.  The K3 Utility doesn't have to run as an
administrator now, and if it self-updated, I'd have to change that.

I considered popping up a dialog with a hyperlink to the web site.  But I
didn't think "new version of the K3 Utility" was something that had to be in
your face that much; maybe you'd prefer to update your radio rather than
play with new versions of the K3 Utility.  The Activity Log lets you know.
Go get it if you want it.

Dick
