Current Measurement in the K2

Tom Field
I've completed my K2/100, and have noticed that when transmitting with
higher power , the current reading on the display changes from .36 amps
(recieving) to 1.36 or 1.5 amps. I read in the KPA 100 manual that the K2
draws 15 to 20 amps when transmitting at 100 watts. I see this much current
on the meter of my power supply, but it's not reflected on the K2 display.
Any ideas?

Re: Current Measurement in the K2

Vic Rosenthal
The K2 current display just measures the current to the QRP part of the rig, not the KPA100.

Tom,

The current displayed by the K2 indicate only the current draw of the
base K2, not the KPA100. External metering is required to measure the
transmit current of the KPA100.
Your measurements are within the realm of reason.
