They're up and running. Plan is to be there through the 20th. Using 3 K3s
and 1 K2. http://www.d64k.net/plans/ Tony KT0NY -- http://www.isb.edu/faculty/facultydir.aspx?ddlFaculty=352 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

We have finished the expedition and I'm back home.
We had 4 stations running, with 2 K2 and 2 K3 and 1 KPA500 (other PAs were 500 w home build and one ACOM 1000) My K3 received some damage when i tried to listen on 10m and one station was already in the band: In all bands if ATU is bypassed it gives me high SWR. When i use ATU i don't have swr. I think may be some bleeding resistors damaged at bypass line of ATU. Do you have any experience in this problem? May I try to solve it or it's better to send the ATU to be repaired? Anyplace in Europe or it's better to send it to USA? Thanks for your help 73 Josep EA3AKY http://ea3aky.blogspot.com/ -----Mensaje original----- De: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] En nombre de Tony Estep Enviado el: miƩrcoles, 08 de agosto de 2012 23:16 Para: Elecraft Asunto: [Elecraft] D64K They're up and running. Josep,
There is a repair facility in Italy and one in Germany. I think you should ask [hidden email] for information about how to proceed. 73, Don W3FPR On 8/22/2012 2:30 PM, ea3aky wrote: > We have finished the expedition and I'm back home. > > We had 4 stations running, with 2 K2 and 2 K3 and 1 KPA500 (other PAs were > 500 w home build and one ACOM 1000) > > My K3 received some damage when i tried to listen on 10m and one station was > already in the band: > > In all bands if ATU is bypassed it gives me high SWR. Does this happen when using a good 50 ohm resistive DL ? ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Josep, > My K3 received some damage when i tried to listen on 10m and one > station was already in the band: Looking at the KAT3 schematic shows there is nothing in the ATU that should be damaged by 10 Meter RF - particularly if the receiver did not suffer any damage. If anything, one of the IF traps on the main board might be damaged but that is relatively unlikely with 10 Meter RF. > In all bands if ATU is bypassed it gives me high SWR. When i use ATU > i don't have swr. Since the problem shows only with the ATU bypassed and it happens on all bands, start by tuning the ATU into a known good 50 Ohm load for *each band* (and repeat the process on each antenna port if you use both). It's possible the "bypass" settings have been lost or scrambled and this will reset them. > We have finished the expedition and I'm back home. Good job! I only wish you would have beamed to the USA more <G>. 73, ...
