DL-1 olfaction feature

I just wanted to make sure you all know about the special feature in the DL-1 which allows you to detect an "overpower" with your nose.
I inadvertently sent about 85 watts into it for a few seconds, and the "olfaction" feature alerted me right away that I am an idiot.

I believe I removed the offending source in time.

Years ago we called that distinctive aroma "Eau de Allen-Bradley".

Ahhh...an Idiot Detector. I have several. They go
off almost daily to remind me that no one will ever be
notifying the Nobel Committee over anything that I do!

You might want to take an ohmmeter to the resistors in
your DL-1 to make sure they survived OK.

Water of Allen-Bradley??? (eau = water as in D'Eau Claire being 'from clear
water').

Now, Odeur d'Allen-Bradley (odor of Allen Bradley) makes sense or better
yet, "Odeur ou un Allen chaud" which my rusty French says is the smell of a
hot Allen-Bradley <G>.

C'est vrai, but "eau" is often used to describe fragrances, as well,
as in Eau de Cologne (i.e., water of Cologne or as those actually in
Cologne would say, Kölnwasser). Certainly it was "fractured French"

I've never heard "eau" used to define a fragrance. As you say, Eau de
Cologne is Cologne water. In French the adjective comes after the noun.
C'est la vie!

Hmmm. Elecraft doesn't sell either water or perfumes so I'll leave it at

That would be "Odour or a hot Allen" - I suspect that's not quite what
you meant.

* Eau de toilette: 5-20% aromatic compounds

I just learned something new, though it is certainly not something I
ever expected to learn from an Elecraft list!
