DSP

Mike,W8KRR
I'm using an old DSP-59+ with my K2 with good results.  I'm curious -
anybody else trying this?
Mike

Re: DSP

Mark J. Schreiner
I've used a Timewave DSP-59+ with a variety of radios from something as
basic as a RockMite-40 to Kenwood TS-820 & TS-940 and Yaesu FT-100, all
with good success.  I haven't started building my K2 yet (it just
arrived yesterday) but plan to use the DSP-59+ with it initially as
well, and maybe later add the DSP filter option when I have a few extra
dollars again.

I should be starting to inventory my new K2 parts tonight and start
building later tonight or tomorrow.

I'm using a good ole DSP-59+ with one of my K2's - the one that does not
have the KDSP in it.
They both have benefits and shortcomings ..... or ..... I'm not about to
part with either!

Mike and All,

Yes.  Works well and it's nice fit on top.  I'm using an isolation
transformer into the speaker jack and an external speaker on the 59+

Hi Mike
Yes, I too have the DSP 59+, and use it all the time.
Partly to supplement the K2DSP denoiser, partly to add
some degree of filtering, but not much, and partly for
an additional audio amplifier to drive my acoustic
filter speaker.  The speaker isn't real efficient, and
takes more drive than a plain speaker.

One feature that's been there all along, but I just
caught onto recently, is the AGC feature.  I've always
grumbled about the AGC in the K2.  When wearing headphones
and straining for a weak signal, a local S9+++ signal can
come on and give me a big headache.  The AGC feature now
is working well and keeps the output surprisingly level.
A great boon to headphone users.
